W8S – Swains Island

This operation, originally scheduled for March 2020, has been postponed until the fall of 2020.  This was necessary because of restrictions imposed by the Department of Health of American Samoa as a result of the Corona virus outbreak.  Click HERE to read the W8S announcement.

An international team of 10 operators will be active from Swains Island as W8S. Club Log ranks Swains Island as Number 34 on the Most-Wanted List, worldwide.

They will be QRV on all HF bands in CW, SSB, FT8 and RTTY with 4 stations from 2 separated camps.

They will run 4 stations simultaneously, 24 hours a day. Radios will be Elecraft K3/K3S and amplifiers will be Expert 1.3K-FA / Expert 1.5K-FA. Antennas will be Inverted-L for Top Band, Verticals, Phased Verticals, VDA,s Hex Beam, plus K9AY or Beverage receive antennas.

The main modes will be CW, SSB, RTTY and FT8. On some bands we will be active in 2 modes at the same time.
